Duties/Responsibilites

DUTIES
Support the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)
organization in the independent review of nuclear safety culture and occupational safety & health
activities within SRNS and make improvement recommendations. Provide technical and managerial
reports, as well as expertise to the SRNS OSH organization, both programmatically and in the operating
facilities. Conduct administrative and technical reviews of OSH activities and provide recommendations
to Management for strengthening execution and performance. Convey personal understanding and
application of the discipline's advanced theories, concepts and art with advanced knowledge of related
disciplines to SRNS OSH management and staff. Perform effectiveness reviews of organization
activities, compliance posture, nuclear safety culture initiatives, and related OSH functions and provide
recommendations to Executive Management. Support key OSH personnel and management to identify
gaps and improve operational and functional decision making and overall organizational performance to
ensure compliance with 10CFR851, related standards and guides and best industry practices.
Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be
provided by SRNS.

Work Hours:
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day;
five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week
A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best
schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.

Area Security Access:
A DOE security clearance is NOT required for this position.

Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in a science, engineering or human performance, organizational performance, 

or related field and 20 years of experience in the
OSH and/or nuclear safety culture arena supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.

Previous experience with implementation of 10 CFR 851 and related standards and guides

Familiarity with international best industry practices in the OSH (preferred)

Proficient at performing Nuclear Safety Culture Program Assessments and OSH reviews working with OSH professionals and management

Proven ability to solve complex problems in the field. √

Work history demonstrating personal accountability for project schedules,deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work.

Understands and applies theories and concepts with advanced knowledge of related disciplines

Experience in international nuclear safety culture practices (preferred)

Preference will be given to those candidates who have contributed to advancing knowledge in Nuclear Safety Culture Program and OSH expertise through various avenues such as professional society membership and
involvement and certifications

Preferred professional certifications and training include: Certified Safety Professional and Safety Trained Supervisor
