Duties/Responsibilites

Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidate must have recent practical experience with DOE specific project management requirements and be able to provide detailed project management functional expertise to program and project managers. Candidate must be knowledgeable of SRS nuclear materials facilities and operating processes. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with program and project managers to communicate daily direction and establish internal project priorities. Must be able to manage costs, schedule and technical baselines and work effectively with project staff and matrixed personnel to control baselines. Candidate will be required to work closely with both professional and nonexempt employees to ensure project progress is within schedule, cost, technical, environmental and contract baselines. Must possess expertise in the development of special studies, scoping alternatives and estimates for potential projects.
Must be able to initiate and frequently deliver concise and accurate presentations to internal and external customers regarding project implementation plans, status, changes and new approaches, including complex technical, organizational and financial issues. Must be able to conduct highly complex analysis of problems involving numerous engineering disciplines. Expected to develop new and alternative action strategies enabling the early achievement of milestones. Must be able to perform and lead risk analysis and provide decisive authority for defining and approving corrective actions and establishing priorities.
Qualifications and Skills
Education/General Experience:
Candidate must meet at least one of the following:
1. BS Degree in Engineering and at least 15 years of related experience.
2. BS/BA Degree in a related technical or management field and at least 20 years of related experience.
3. A High School diploma and 25 years of experience planning and managing construction projects.
Skills/Specific Experience:
• Previous experience involving DOE Nuclear materials storage and processing.
• Previous experience related to SRS construction projects and SRS specific processes, programs, procedures and systems is preferred.
• Previous experience related to DOE project management and DOE Order 413.3B.
• Project Management Institute PMP certification is preferred.
Work Hours
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Candidate is expected to have flexibility in work hours as dictated by project demands.
Area Security Access
A DOE “L” or “Q” security clearance is required.
Recent successful Human Reliability Program participation is preferred.
