Cloud Services Systems Engineer

12 Months (2000 hours S/T and 200 O/T per year)

Purpose of the Position:
Design and administer the utilization of commercial Cloud Services in support of SRS missions.

Duties
    Work with other IT personnel to gather and document requirements for migration of on-premises web content to a Cloud environment as a proof of concept effort.
    In conjunction with SRNS personnel, perform a gap analysis comparison between FEDRAMP cloud services controls and local security requirements
    Plan, design, and document connectivity, testing, change control, security, troubleshooting, and monitoring associated with Cloud-based services  based on a scenario of a phased migration of increasingly sensitive and/or critical information to the Cloud
    Operate, provision, and maintain systems / content running in the Cloud
    Develop and present Cloud information briefings to on-premises IT personnel including developers and systems/network engineers.
    Assist with Cloud capacity planning.
    Ensure security is considered in all system configuration designs and updates.
    Obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task. Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.

Work Hours
    A 40 hour work week will be scheduled.
    SRNS will assign the candidate to one of the following work schedules
    5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week)
    4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week)
    9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B).  
    Each work day has an unpaid, 30 minute lunch.
    Work week excludes SRNS holidays.
    This position requires on-call assignment outside of normal working hours.  This will be a maximum of one week out of every four weeks.  The employee must remain within a one hour driving distance of the site and remain fit-for-duty during the on-call assignment.  Most on-call support will be performed remotely from home using SRNS-provided equipment.  Occasionally, travel to the site during after-hours on-call will be required.  Time spent activity resolving on-call issues will be compensated by a 1-to-1 swap of normal working hours or overtime payment, at the discretion of the manager.  After a three month training period, employee must be familiar enough with local processes and procedures to take on-call support without assistance.


Required Qualifications

Citizenship:
    Must be solely a U.S. citizen.

Education:
    The position requires, at a minimum, one of the following combinations of education and experience:
    a 4-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline with 2 years relevant IT experience; 
    or a non-related 4 year degree with 4 years relevant IT experience,
    or a related 2-year degree with 4 years relevant IT experience,
    or a high school diploma and 8 years of relevant IT experience.

Job Knowledge/Experience:
    AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
(MS Azure certification in lieu of AWS certification would be considered  if augmented by experience also utilizing non-Azure Cloud Services).
    Experience migrating an existing on-premises applications to a Cloud platform
    Experience working with (or for) Cloud Services Brokers (CSBs) 
    FEDRAMP experience highly desireable
    Knowledge of/experience with medium to large computer network concepts, services (HTTP, DNS, FTP, TCP/ICMP/UDP) and technologies and/or Support of computer systems and/or networks in a medium to large production environment

Security Access:
    A security clearance is not initially required; however, candidate must be capable of obtaining an L or Q clearance if required to perform assigned duties.

Physical Demands: 
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. 
    Employee must be able to drive a site vehicle and/or walk to various end-user locations on site. 
    Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to normal noise levels in the work environment.
